Rosa's Wallflower - Coming to a Theatre Near You, March 2007.

The first big project is in full swing, now. The pre production is coming along with all the regular stresses and sleepless nights. I co-wrote the script with Lindsay, I am also the Location Manager and will be playing the lead role and in post production I'm doing graphics and music (I have a dabbling interest in typography and design and I'm tired of seeing shitty Comic Sans MS fonts on people's movies). A few locations that our director desperately wanted required a lot of and bureaucracy, meetings and paperwork, so I kind of had to swallow hard and put on my schmoozing shoes, which (historically) is something I hate and am not particular good at, but I know how it'll help the story so I did my best and made it happen.

I'm fucking excited for this one. We really have something here. This is going to be…well, a real movie, you know?

It was disappointing not getting the director role, but if I had to lose it, I'm glad it was to Mr. Lindsay Bates. He's a great fucking guy, has excellent instincts and runs a tight ship - and he let me play the role I really wanted so he's definitely in my good egg index. We're getting into larger crews now (13 people), budgets (250 bucks) and much more professional, multi-day shoots.

Also, this week my cousin is cleaning my teeth under the vigilant eye of her dental hygiene instructor tomorrow. I do put my faith in Western academia, but to have novices scraping my teeth…yeesh. Hoping I don't come back to school on Friday looking like a hockey player.

The maelstrom has just begun so I thought I'd drop you guys a line and let you know I won't be around much until the end of February. But I hope this finds you well and I know I don't keep in touch like I should.
